This wooden Paragon Scope by Keystone View Co., is an antique wooden stereoscope, also known as a stereo viewer or stereopticon. It was used to view a pair of slightly different images (called a stereograph or stereoview card) as a single three-dimensional image.
It features two lenses and a wooden rail where a card holder moves back and forth to adjust the focus of the image. The card holder is not included.
The handle on the bottom swivels for easy storage.
Stereoscopes were very popular as a form of home entertainment and education from the mid-1850s through the early 20th century.
