The East Central WI Beekeepers Association is offering a beginning beekeeping class. This is a one day event which may be taken in Fond du Lac or Green Lake. The class is broken into four major sections including: fundamentals of bee biology; beekeeping equipment; colony management; and hive products, diseases & pests, harvesting, extracting, properties of honey, and where to start. 

The instructor, Buzz H. Vahradian, has been a beekeeper for 25 years, and has taught classes for the past six years in Stevens Point. Buzz states, "Beekeeping is rewarding! This class is intended for those who have never kept bees before and might be interested in starting or others fascinated by honeybees and would like to learn more." 

The Green Lake class is Saturday, February 9 at the Caestecker Library, 518 Hill Street in Green Lake. The Fond du Lac class is Saturday, February 23 at MPTC, Room O-103 (Parking Lot O), 235 North National Avenue, Fond du Lac. Registration is at 9:15 am for each class, and the class runs from 9:30 am - 2:00 pm. 

The fee is $50 per person and includes: packet of materials, FREE 2019 ECWBA membership, & refreshments. Class participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch. There is a $25 fee for an additional family member (no materials or membership). This class fulfills the educational requirement of the Fond du Lac City Beekeeping Ordinance. Register Online by Jan 31 at Space is limited and registration is first come/first served.
