Hi! Do you wish to learn to play the mandolin or the acoustic guitar? Or improve your chops, or simply learn some new tunes?
I’m a musician and music teacher from Norway, Europe, offering lessons on mandolin and acoustic guitar. I also play and teach fiddle.
I have 30 years of experience in performing and teaching, and a master’s degree in Nordic Folk Music from the Royal Academy Music in Stockholm, Sweden.
I specialize in Scandinavian fiddle music, also do Irish and Celtic music, and American Old Time. Happy to work on music from a broader popular repertoire. I teach flat picking (how to play with a pick) melody playing, chords and accompaniment, and ensemble playing.
For acoustic guitar I mainly do DADGAD tuning, but also standard tuning.
I teach by ear while supplementing the student with sheet music and audio as needed. My approach is to meet the student where they are at and where they can progress, while feeling comfortable with the instrument and inspired by the music.
I can do lessons in person in my own studio in Appleton, at your place in the Fox Valleys, or online.
My rates are $45 for 45 minutes and $60 for an hour. Additional $5 for lessons away from my own studio.
