Wood tools a century or more old, may have dents, dings, scratches, age/shrinkage checks, and warpage. Anything significant will be noted and photographed.
The plane has been lightly cleaned, by hand, using a Scotch-Brite pad and B.L.O.
The toe is marked "AUBURN TOOL CO. AUBURN. N.Y."
The heel is marked "NO. 177 2 INCH"
AUBURN TOOL CO. made planes in Auburn, N.Y. from 1864 to 1893.
The iron is unmarked.
An uncommon plane in excellent condition, IMHO.
The iron will need to be sharpened, and the sole may need truing if this plane is to be used.
The wedge and iron may be removed for shipping.
