Matched Pair of Handled Tongue & Groove Planes by J. KELLOGG, AMHERST MS
Please read full description, and see all photos. I strive for large clear photos that show all the details...good or bad. Ask for specific photos or additional details if needed.
Wood tools a century or more old, may have dents, dings, scratches, age/shrinkage checks, and warpage. Anything significant will be noted and photographed.
As a tool collector for almost 50 years, and in order to preserve the history and prevent rust, this has been lightly cleaned by hand using a Scotchbrite Pad and B.L.O., Any metal burrs have been filed smooth.
The toes are maker marked "J. KELLOGG, AMHERST MS" , and owner marked "J.H.HOWE"
J. KELLOGG is listed as a planemaker in Amherst, Massachusetts ca.1840 to 1867.
The heels are marked "6/8 No.18" and "6/8 No.19"
The planes cut a nominal 1/4" T & G.
The planes are approximately 11-1/2" long, and IMHO in excellent condition.
The iron will need to be sharpened, and the sole may need truing if this plane is to be used.
The wedges and irons will be removed for shipping.
